Soybean Kabab Recipe

SOYBEAN Kabab or Soya Kabab is a much popular dish among vegetarians. Soya, which is highly rich in protein, is a famous among Indians, Pakistanis and Afghanistanis.

Soybean Kababs are served as starter, side dish or as snacks. It is believed that soybean protein is equal to the protein found in meat.

I’d made Soybean Kababs in my daughter’s birthday party and earned many praises. I’m much cautious of kids’ health, thus, this nutrient Soybean Kababs became the part of the menu in my daughter’s birthday party. Kids, too, liked it very much and were asking for more kababs!

Soybean Shami Kabab, as it is called, is made by shallow frying. It is totally a vegetarian dish and very easy to make. Those who don’t want to eat non-veg kababs can replace it with soya kababs.

To give variations to the burgers you make at home, you can use soybean kabab in place of aloo tikki or chicken tikka. It tastes extremely amazing. 

Whenever, I make this yummy Soybean Kababs for my family and friends, I always get praised. Well, sometimes flattering is important too!

How to Make Soybean Kabab

Serving 4 (it depends on your diet)

Ingredients

  • 100 gm chana dal
  • 50 gm Soybean
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • Green coriander finely chopped
  • Mint (Pudina) finely chopped
  • 1/2 tspn All spices (garam masala)
  • 1/2 tspn dry coriander (dhaniya powder)
  • 1/2 tspn Cumin powder (zeera)
  • 1 tspn Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbspn Lime juice (or according to your taste)
  • salt and red Chilli powder (according to your taste)
  • 2 chopped green Chillies (optional)
  • Refined oil for Shallow Fry

Make your own Soybean Kabab at Home

Soak the soybean in adequate amount of water for an hour. After that, in a pressure cooker boil the soaked soybean and chana dal, upto 3 whistles. Open the cooker and see the water. If water is there then pressure cook again until the water disappears. After cooling grind the mixture into a coarse paste. Then transfer the paste into a bowl. Add above all the mentioned ingredients. Mix well.

Make the tikkis. Now, in a frying pan pour some oil for shallow frying. Heat the oil. Shallow fry the Soybean tikkis. Fry until it becomes brown in colour. Your tasty Soybean kebabs are ready to serve and taste. Serve it hot with the main course.

Tip: If you are making Soybean Kababs for kids don’t add much green chilies.
