First, find out which Keurig you have
Keurig brewers fall into three groups, and a reusable cup built for one group often won’t work in another:

How to avoid the two common problems

Don’t overfill: Keurig marks a MAX line on its filter for a reason, and grounds packed up to the rim are what keeps a lid from latching. Use a medium-to-coarse grind rather than espresso-fine coffee; owners on the Keurig subreddit recommend grounds that look like “coarse brown sand,” because fine grounds pass through mesh and end up in the mug.
